I find your subject very interesting! While I read more of your post I see much of the idea is hardware focused where I want to explore the software side! I love developers there are very creative people and most are craftpersons! Alas that is their down fall while their are creative they tend to not follow the same pattern unless it is well traveled.
So why can't us architects craft a self discovery system for software development? I beleive there are paths to this trip but, many do not follow.
I need to reserach what functionallity is available here.

This was very useful article for me.But my case slightly different as explained below.
1) I have a separate exchange server set up
2) Create X number of exchange users created in it.
3) I have set up exchange impersonation and all other set ups.
4) I should be able read all mailboxes (email, calendar items, appointments, tasks, reminders etc.,) with a single exchange impersonation service account without supplying the mail account (because my program do not know each mail account but it knows the ManagementScope and Role) whose mail box need to be read.

It would be great help if you can give me some direction to achieve it.I could not find it anywhere in Microsoft site.

Thanks in advance

HI Bruce, I like this article!! I have a problem trying to using the exchange.asmx. I have a web application that is in a separated server and I try to use the Current User credentials to access the appointments. Let me put in there way, I want to get the user's appointments using his/her Network Credentials. The problem is that I get 401 error and I have tried with many ways and no one works. I have tried with CredentialCache, WindowIdentity but I still get the error. I am a developer and the person responsable of the Exchange server is very but very picky so I want to avoid any change in Exchange. So I did some test with SharePoint 2010 and I create a Overlay Calendar using the same web service and everything works as I expected. Why my web application cannot access the appointment using the User credentials?? And How can I access the appointments using the user credentials?
Best Regards,
Thanks!

Hi Bruce, thanks very much for such an informative article - it really helped me understand how to set up impersonation on Exchange 2007 R3 (Windows Server 2003 R2). I had no problems setting it up - now to test access!
All the best, Jon

P.S. I wonder if MS would sponsor articles like this which so helpfully make up for the poor official documentation?
